Welcome to my Portfolio
I'm Xavier T. Chalkley, and at 20 years old, I've embarked on a journey of musical composition that's shaping my identity. My introduction to the world of music began when I started taking piano lessons from Dr. Natasha Stojanovska, a former student of Lynn University. Under her expert guidance, my passion for composition flourished, drawing inspiration from classical legends from Scarlatti to John Cage, with Johannes Brahms leaving a profound mark on my style and technique.
During my years at Carmel High School in Indiana, I had the privilege of playing the euphonium in both the symphonic and marching bands. It was during this time that I embarked on my composition journey, creating my first piano piece, A Dungeon's Curse, in collaboration with Dr. Stojanovska. This composition made its debut at a studio concert, receiving praise from the audience and fellow musicians alike, setting the stage for my promising career in composition.
Fuelled by my deep love for music, I decided to pursue a music composition major at Lynn University, where I'm currently refining my skills under the mentorship of Dr. Thomas McKinley. At just twenty years old, I've already composed numerous works for various instruments, including solo piano, piano duets, violin, cello, classical guitar, and mandolin. My compositions are a fusion of classical influences and contemporary elements, creating a unique and emotionally resonant sound.
Beyond my musical endeavors, I'm also deeply committed to leadership and community service. I proudly hold the rank of Eagle Scout and served as a Junior Assistant Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 132 in Carmel, Indiana, where I've actively contributed to conservation projects, campouts, and the mentorship of younger scouts.
With an unyielding passion for music and composition, my goal is to become a renowned composer who inspires others through my innovative and emotive compositions, ushering in a new era in classical music.
